Similar listings button/preview

I think it could be a good feature to show similar listings to the 1 the user is viewing in a side bar with a preview of the picture and the title... I don't know to make this work but I see it as a useful feature

Gumtree has this on their website. When you view an ad lower down on the page it has kind of suggestions of other similar posted items......Sounds complicated, just wondering if its do-able?
