I'm looking for clarification for Sitemap.xml
« on: October 12, 2017, 02:44:08 pm »
Hi guys,im search the information to get me started for the sitemap of my site.
I use the plugin Madhouse SEO and have added to it a sitemap.
My problem is the next because I'm confused: The plugin Madhouse SEO have Sitemap that is a plugin is put in a file that has the following: sitemap-categories, sitemap-items, sitemaps, sitemap-static-pages, sitemap-users.
Specifically, all this 9 months since opening the site, I had installed this plug-in but besides it we added a sitemap created with the help of https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ where that site was in the root of the site.

Now I do not know which of them results in google search.
I ask somebody for some suggestions, tips and guidelines.
Thanks.

Hi Try to access in your browser yoursite.com/sitemap.xml

To be shure google indexes the right sitemap you must make an account for google webmaster tools and insert the url of your sitemap there.
The sitemap can be an index of your 5 sitemaps.

Hi Marius ...thank you insight !!

I got one relevant question....

Do we need to update mysite.com/sitemap.xml everytime? everyday? or its auto updated?
Currently I am updating once a week.

I get xml file and upload on my site roots and lateron test on webmaster tools.

Anyway - sitemap gets updated by itself - ?

I don't know, you should ask the dev of that plugin.
I use rss feed instead of sitemap.

I use rss feed instead of sitemap.

and that is enough, rss works well, sitemap is an old thing not needed in 2017.

What would also help, is some ajaxized widget that displays in the home page the latest ads, as a loop. For example the latest 20 ads.

Yes sitemap.xml works but I do not know which of them, as I said, I created a sitemap of myself, and there are also the sitemaps that belong to this MadHouse SEO plugin so there are 2 different sitemap and this is my disapproval I do not know who works .

Sitemap:
I updated sitemap( 30Sept.2017) www.mysite.com/sitemap.xml including texted. Google indexed my pages out of all links

Next time :
I updated sitemap( 10 Oct.2017) www.mysite.com/sitemap1.xml & tested Sitemap1.xml ......

Similarly 2, 3 , 4 & 5? Right? Upto 5.

OR : Everytime new sitemap will replace old? (Old of 30 Sept.20170?
What is right way?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RSS : after installing Extra Feed Plugin : I will search all MAIN CATEGORIES and will add "?feed=google_cars" and would press Enter . All Ads will appear on browser for category.

Thats it? or anything else required to be done in Osclass?

1. Your sitemaps are not at those url.
2. rss feed is included with osclass just put /feed after your url

Sorry marius !! my limited knowledge and sometime there are many ways of achieving same result and I get confuse in context of osclasswizards.

You mean RSS is included in Extra Feed Plugin ? or its builtin with osclass (without plugin)?

How and where to put /feed  ? in permalinks?

How to verify RSS is active and working?

Thanks

put in your browser address bar
yoursite.com/feed

It's included in the core.

PS. sorry I didn't noticed that that is not your real url (regarding 1st point from my previous reply for sitemap.xml)

You need to find where your sitemap is located.

1. Look in your www/public_html file to see if there's a sitemap.
2. Once you find the sitemap, put that URL into Google Webmaster Tools > Sitemaps > Submit URL

That's it.

Thank you gunit and marius !!
I was up to date to that extent !! I thought to increase further traffic - if RSS is a way out.

You need to find where your sitemap is located.

1. Look in your www/public_html file to see if there's a sitemap.
2. Once you find the sitemap, put that URL into Google Webmaster Tools > Sitemaps > Submit URL

That's it.
That's what I did, I sent to google, my sitemap, but in the plug-in that I installed in admin, that SEO plugin also has a sitemap, and I do not know how to solve the problem
