Mail Server set up
« on: July 14, 2011, 04:03:29 pm »
I am trying to install osclass on bluehost server and facing problem with Mail server.

I tried following things:
1) Set up Mail server configuration inside Admin console

Server Type: GMail Server

hostname: smtp.gmail.com

Server port: 465

username: m.....@gmail.com

password: .........

Encryption: ssl

Enable SMTP authentication: Checked

2) Tried using 'Contact' page/form - but didnt see any email going through.
3) Also tried to register a new user - but no email was sent out.

I have two questions:

1) What is wrong with my above settings?
2) Later (instead of m...@gmail.com) I want to start using my custom email which is linked to google app(gmail). for eg: info@mydomain.com Where emails are linked to free gmail (google app system). Will settings still remain similar or something will change?

Thanks

It should work... However, I don't recommend you to use the smtp option if you can avoid it.

I unchecked SMTP option and emails started working for "m......@gmail.com"

Now problem is
I have been trying to change Mail Server settings with other email address (tried gmail as well as gmail-app based email) .
Inside Admin screen it says that new Mail server settings are saved but all emails still continue to show 'm.......@gmail.com' (previous email)

Why am i not able to change email even after successfully saving new changes on admin screen?
Am i missing soem more setting?

Maybe it's because it's your administration e-mail?

yes! I has a different email inside Admin. I am able to solve the problem now.

However I am still not able to use my custom email which is linked to Gmail (google app).

Noticed one more problem. I have multiple Admins of which one is using my custom-domain email linked to gmail(google app).

When I try forgot password feature. It works for all Admins but one which uses Custom-domain name.

Any suggestions?

(And I apologies for delay in responding. Thank you so much for help) I am very close to make my site live and I love OSclass.
Thanks

Hi you can use your custom domain name at Google by changing the account setting at Google.

step 1:
Log in to Google and click on the settings tab.

step 2:

Click  "Settings" > "Accounts" to open the accounts window.

step3:

Find "Send mail as" > and Click "Add another email address you own"

In the pop up window, follow the instructions to add your custom email address.

step 4:
Click on "make default" to make your custom email address the default address to send all email from Google.

Enjoy,

Osclass classifieds script is free open source. To contact seller and buyer It is important to setup Osclass custom Mail server setting.

First of all create a custom email id from your Hosting control panel. Ex: I created info@yourdomain.com with password.

These are steps for Osclass mail server correct setting:

1. Login to your admin panel and go to setting >> Mail Server. Read Osclass custom mail server setting full tutorial here.
Check my website http://www.abcdclassifieds.com my Custom mail server is working.

no need to set up mail server for gmail

simply go to setting > General

and in Contact e-mail mention your gmail id and click save

after that go to users > your profile

and in E-mail (required) mention your gmail id and enter Your current password and then click save

try sending mails and see that its solved or not ?
