Inconsistencies when posting / editing an advertisement
« on: May 12, 2011, 02:56:24 pm »
Hi

I have encountered a problem with editing an existing advert.

When you first post an advert, the Location -> City seems to be taken from the user profile City value, which is a free format text field when you enter the user profile details...

When you have published the advert, and then choose to Edit the advert, the Location -> City is no longer the value from the user profile (although this was the value stored with the advert in the database when it was published), but you are invited to "Select a city" from a drop down list of cities that is populated from the database.

Surely there should only be a prompt for city selection if the city has not previously been entered?

Cheers,

Ian Frizell

Oops!  Forgot to say I'm running OSClass 2.0.3  on Apache 2 under Linux, PHP 5.2.13, MySQL 5.0.91.  Have tried with both Firefox 4 and Google Chrome 11.0.696.60 browsers.

Hi ianfrizell,

Which country/region/city are you using? Because I see a select on both, item's form and user's profile form.

If for some reason we don't have cities from a region, then a free text input is place instead of a select. It could be also a bug if some variable is not correct, so It could be very helpfull if you tell us your country/region/city configuration.

Thanks!

Hi _CONEJO

I am using United Kingdom/Norfolk/Norwich.  The city was entered manually in a free format text field in the "Update your profile" form.

I do not have any UK Cities in the database.

When I go to Edit the item,  the "Update your item" form has a drop down listbox in the Location part of the form.  The user is prompted to  "Select a city...".  The list of cities begins with "Canillo, Soldeu, Bordes d'Envalira".

Cheers,
