Title: [NEW PLUGIN] SMF Bridge - Add a forum to OSClass
Post by: Jesse on December 29, 2012, 02:08:57 am
This is an early release. That means some features wont automatically work until the next version of OSClass is released. Details below...

Plugin Name: SMF Bridge

Description: This bridge will allow your OSClass users to be automatically logged into an SMF forum residing on the same domain.

To use:

Step 1: Install an SMF forum.

Step 2: This step is only needed for Osclass versions 3.0.2 and earlier. You must manually add a line of code to your root file login.php. Simply change this line (around line 110):

From this:
Code: [Select]
$this->redirectTo( $url_redirect ) ;
To this:
Code: [Select]
osc_run_hook("after_login");
$this->redirectTo( $url_redirect ) ;

Step 3: Install the SMF Bridge plugin.
Step 4: Configure the plugin (through the SMF Bridge page listed in the Plugin menu).

That's it!

Use:
Now whenever you log into OSClass, you'll also be logged into your SMF forum. The same goes for all your users. This plugin is NOT intended to integrate with existing SMF forum users.

Hopefully Step 2 will be unneeded in the future assuming this hook gets added to the core of OSC.

You have to tell the plugin where your SMF directory is.

To do that, login to /oc-admin/, click "Plugins", then "SMF Bridge". There is only one setting there, which is simply the path to your SMF installation.

Hi Legion,

Yes, you would have to install SMF. You should be able to install into any directory you want. Just make sure to tell the plugin where you install SMF (through Admin panel at /oc-admin/ >> Plugins >> SMF Bridge)

Hi Jesse;

Could I bridge between OSClass to OSClass as well? I have separated into two accounts because of language: English & Local Language.

A bridge between two completely independent installations (two databases) of OSClass could be done, however, not with this plugin. That would require a new plugin to be built for that purpose.

You may want to start a new post in the "plugins" section and see if there is any interest in such a plugin, or add it as a suggestion on the new site they got (https://osclass.uservoice.com/). If so, myself or someone else may be interested in building such a plugin, it wouldn't be too hard (just takes time, as with most coding projects).

You will have to edit the theme files to do that... you can just use standard HTML and CSS.

Thanks! Glad it was working for you.  :)

I'm working on a bridge for WordPress right now, which is proving to be quite a challenge. I've got the plugin working and it's being test right now, but some possible issues seem to have come up. I'll have to see how this ends up before considering an OSC-OSC or PHPBB bridge.

Not having heard of Mybb, I can't see there would be much demand for such a plugin, so I wont plan on it.  :-\

I understanded. Similar as SMF and SMF. There is plugin system, but we must copy plugin modification to plugin dictionary.
The development site: http://www.mybb.com

Hi Jesse, thanks for your work

follow the steps

Is installed on a hosting for practices

1. smf installed in / my domain / smf01
2. Osclass installed in / my domain / Osclass

3. edit the file in the osclass login.php [/ b]
4. Install the plugin

After.

It created two user accounts
Activated with the activation mail.
When you log in osclass says "no account with that username"

Home in as administrator and the user exists
Change the password manually
Try again and do not log
password recovery via email and does not work.

Any idea or solution?

1000 thanks.

Hi,

Just a quick reply here (I'm about to leave for 11 days on vacation)...

The plugin does not interfere at all with Osclass user registration, so you should not be experiencing any issues from this plugin with regards to users registering/logging-in to Osclass.

However, the user will NOT be able to login directly to SMF. The only way a user can be logged into SMF is by logging into Osclass. That is because the users password only works with Osclass, not SMF. There currently is not a way to allow direct login to SMF for users created by this plugin.

I'm not sure if that helps at all, but I really can't dig any further right now... not until I return.

 :) @admymotor

Check my old post it will help your problem ..it was my problem before

you must point your url smf forum in setting

You have to tell the plugin where your SMF directory is.

To do that, login to /oc-admin/, click "Plugins", then "SMF Bridge". There is only one setting there, which is simply the path to your SMF installation.

I am using osclass 3.1.1. I had issues earlier on with the SMF Plugin, I cant logout to SMF, it keeps on redirecting to the index page of the forum, but not logging out. I have noticed that the cookie length set is very long. It is set to:
   $cookie_length = 60 * 3153600;

I have solved the problem by setting the cookie_length low enough
    $cookie_length = 6;

files modified: smf_login.php

Thanks for the plugin  :)

$this->redirectTo( $url_redirect ) ;please help me out with the installation and setup forum for site

To this:
Code: [Select]
osc_run_hook("after_login");
$this->redirectTo( $url_redirect ) ;

  • OSClass users can change their forum display name by going into their OSC Dashboard >> Forum settings.

Hopefully Step 2 will be unneeded in the future assuming this hook gets added to the core of OSC.

I used SMF Bridge, OSclass 3.2, SMF 2.0.5

The bridge generate my user name like:    CSRF1728191630_1207048295
Why cant we sens a normal name, the same when we register on osclass?

Why i cant change anything ? Show me that password is incorrect. I'd like to change my name in SMF butit need my password. I wrote same like osclass and still nothing ?

Hi Jesse, I can confirm the core function from this plugin working well with latest osclass 3.2.2 with repurpose or bender theme. It's seem only few concern need to fix.

1. Maybe push osclass members who register to put their username and it's can't be change so smf username will remain same with osclass username.

Current when change username in osclass more than one time, the username in smf won't be change.

2. I try with latest smf and osclass (using registration disable for smf), when click inside thread, seem the session in smf expired. It's become unlogin again also be nice can logout from smf (right now only logout from osclass and smf will logout too).

Anyway it's nice plugin. Seem need developed by ourself. Thanks for your great contributions.

Hi Jesse,

Thanks for all your hard work with this plugin.

I've installed the latest SMF and I have OS-Class 3.3.2. I skipped step 2 as suggested in your instructions as I have a later version os OS-Class. I have successfully added the SMF subdirectory in the SMF bridge plugin settings. Unfortunately when I login as a user on OSclass it does not log me in to SMF.  There doesn't seem to be any errors, the browser bar indicates http://mydomain.com/oc-content/plugins/smf_bridge/smf_login.php, and the page loads as it would if I logged in normally. No extra users are being created in SMF.

Does anybody have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Or is it just that OSclass 3.3.2 is not yet supported?

Cheers!

Hi,

I installed this plugin and as posted by deskspace I skipped step 2 as I am using the latest version of Osclass.

After installing the plugin, when I try to login as a user, I need to again login in SMF forum and vice versa.

Any solution for this problem???

Thanking you for your kind help,

Regards,
Suresh

This plugin is abandoned. He doesn't respond to anything and the last time he did was over 9 months ago.

How about a bridge that has SMF as master? (user accounts managed by SMF)
Does anyone know of such a thing?

? That's what the bridge was. It's gone.

Use:
Now whenever you log into OSClass, you'll also be logged into your SMF forum. The same goes for all your users. This plugin is NOT intended to integrate with existing SMF forum users.

I think this makes clear that OSClass is the master...

Hi,

I know this plugin is not updated anymore,

but i have installed it, and works just fin with latest OSCLASS version

Now, i just have this small issue, about user name. is there a solution for it? or did anyone could fix this small issue ?

I used SMF Bridge, OSclass 3.2, SMF 2.0.5

The bridge generate my user name like:    CSRF1728191630_1207048295
Why cant we sens a normal name, the same when we register on osclass?

Why i cant change anything ? Show me that password is incorrect. I'd like to change my name in SMF butit need my password. I wrote same like osclass and still nothing ?

you got to look at the configuration of the urls in

http://obiavi1.com//predlaga_nado.......

for any error it shows double bars.

this may cause a fault in the connection and the bridge.

didka I did not made anything special to get it working. Installed it and pointed to my forum folder as explained in the plugin info. Then I went and removed the link from my user menu. So far its all working.

I just have a little problem when users signin at forum for 1st time because my main language is on ciryllic and there is some confusion at smf database but had no time to look at it yet. Except of that it is all fine. If you have any problem then that mean is it related to other plugin you are currently using or changes that you have applied to your core files and/or osclass database.

I picked this up and actually got it - mostly - working with latest ver of OSClass and latest stable release of SMF.
Not quite ready for prime-time, but is working in a production environment (www.onebackpage.com - tab to enter at top).
Here are issues:
1- Needs config panel modification to be able to enter SMF DbName
2- Needs config panel access from all plugins page
3- Doesn't work when users login using a 3rd party login (e.g. - Facebook/twitter/g+)
4- Needs the distribution packaging updated with new code for clean install

If anyone is still interested I can keep this thread updated, or can start a new thread on where I get to with this.

warm regards,
-R

Hello Sudo,

Forum - OSCLASS integration is actually something I'm interested in. Did you continue with the scripts? Can you share your code of the updated version?

Thanks!
