[New Version] Google maps pluggin
« on: June 30, 2011, 04:09:55 pm »
Hi,

Since GitHub is not for everyone i will inlude a zip file here for normal user.

Here is a new version of google map pluggin.

I have add a new feature that will show a map (if you want) in the item_post page.
Your user can now select there location by dragging a pin on the map and geolocation will be store in the database, then on the item page map will show correct location with info enter by user.

Options:
if you install this pluggin you will have to config the pluggin to work with new feature if not pluggin will work as before.

Show a dragable map in post add page ?
You will have to select yes

I have include 2 option to center map :
  • By enter manually latitude and longitude point
  • By using iplocationtool service

Iplocationtool use a free api to get geolocation base on user ip very useful if you have more that one city.

French translation included !
Hope that is bug free.

Hi Keny,

Thanks !!!
I just tried the plugin but it doesn't work for me.  :'(

There are a couple of errors:
The map does not appear in the post-item form.
I don't have a place to include the API for Google Maps.

Advice: The best way to use it is to uninstall your previous plugin and install the new one. I tried uploading the files on the server and no maps appeared.

Now it works ;-) The map appears after you select the category.

Except in the admin panel. When you try to add or modify an item in the admin panel, it doesn't work...
The question regarding how to add the google maps api is still open...

There no need for google map api since code use v3

Map apear when a category is selected (hook work like that)

Why did you need it in the admin panel ? use the normal post page like your user.??

Ok. That sounds good...

But for the admin question, I sometimes add or update ads on the admin panel.

There must be a way to make it work... I get the title but not the map. Could it be a CSS error ?

See screenshot in attachment...

It says 2.2 zip... but i guess it works for the users using 2.0 and 2.1 as the 2.2 version is not released yet?

I just tested this plugin and it is NICE!

I didn´t activate the option "iplocationtools.com service" because it showed my place at "Uddevalla"... (that´s 1000 Kilometers from me).
This is REALLY a good plugin if you are targeting a single town or a village, because you are setting the Longitude and Latitude as default.
The problem for me is that i am targeting 12 villages, so i would need 12 different Longitude and Latitude coordinates as default values...

If you can fix this i would sing for you!!

btw, It´s a good feature when deciding the default lat, long you can see the values when dragging the marker around!

That why you need to use iplocationtool.com ! map will center automaticly whit that service according to you user location for example

if your are from village1 mmap will center whit that and if one of your user is from village 13 map will center whit is village to !

I have the api key entered correctly and when i create an ad it shows my location in Stockholm... thats 600 kilometers from here.
Are you saying that this service should use the location entered by the user when he/she is creating the ad? If so, why does it not work for me?

Hi,

The location show is the location of your isp, for me is 6 km from my house if for you is 600km that just amazing ...

I think i should maybe add another option to let you have more location but i need to check if i can detect the town selected before ...

Hi there. One little doubt. Was the plugin supposed to fill the address or just pinpoint the location?

Thanks
